What we've got is a Russian plot to make the world an ice-cream cone
It may have come to your attention that parts of Britain have experienced some weather today. I'm afraid I don't have any great anecdotes* to add to the thrilling annals of this day of snowy reckoning, so instead, here's the greatest song I know about an American's view of the British attitude to severe winter conditions. (Actually, it's the only song I know about that particular subject, but heigh-ho.)
It's Loudon Wainwright III (father of Rufus and Martha) singing "You Don't Want To Know", back in 1987. And Antipodean viewers might like to know that the song doesn't neglect them either.
* Dull-but-true version: I was actually able to get to work quite easily (boo), but many other people didn't get in at all, so the office sent us home early (yay). Told you it wasn't a great anecdote.
