Today I have been mostly reading Dorothy Parker

Indian Summer

In youth, it was a way I had
To do my best to please,
And change, with every passing lad,
To suit his theories

But now I know the things I know,
And do the things I do;
And if you do not like me so,
To hell, my love, with you!

My journal is called Red Scharlach Speaks to the Nation because...well, this is me, speaking to the cybernation, innit? It's also a reference to a BBC radio comedy show called "Jeremy Hardy Speaks to the Nation". I wouldn't say I was a massive Jeremy Hardy fan, but he's quite good, and on the show he holds forth about different topics of world interest. The concept amused me.

My subtitle is "new stuff, old stuff, random ramblings" because I wasn't feeling very original that day, clearly.

My friends page is called people I know because ...well, apart from the blindingly obvious, it's a reference to that line of Rimmer's from Red Dwarf that went something like "Over the years, I've come to regard you all as... people I met". I changed it slightly to reflect the fact that I haven't met all of you. :-)

My username is Red Scharlach, as those of you who've been paying attention may know by now, after a character from the short story Death and the Compass by Jorge Luis Borges.

My default userpic is Emma Peel from The Avengers because she ROX MY SOX. Like, totally. :-)
