a. Post a list of your fandoms. (I only have one fandom in any real sense, so I've just listed the first ten things I could think of in which I have a favourite character.)
b. Have your friends list guess your favourite character from each one.
c. When guessed, bold the line, include the character name, and write a sentence about why you like that character.
Harry Potter – Snape (because although I like real-life people to be nice and straightforward, I prefer my fictional characters duplicitous and with ambiguous morality. And I empathize with his bitter and crotchety streak.)
ER – *no one guessed it* Correct answer: Carol Hathaway (ah, such a paragon of beauty and saintliness as we shall surely never see on TV again! Plus she got to snog Luka before everyone else did...)
Six Feet Under – *no one guessed it* Correct answer: Claire (the most sympathetic teenager I can ever remember appearing in any US series. Plus, shaped like a normal woman, i.e. not ridiculously thin)
Desperate Housewives – Bree (because she's the funniest)
This Life – Anna (an evergreen great of a character, in all her messed-up pissed-off long-legged glory)
Star Trek: TNG – Jean-Luc Picard (ah, the power of Ye British Character Actor that rises with effortless cool above the dodginess of the script!)
Star Trek: DS9 – Garak (see above for my liking of duplicitousness and ambiguous morality. And he does it with élan to boot.)
This Is Spinal Tap – Nigel (because of his permanently confused expression. And because he goes up to 11.)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Spike (because he's the funniest, frankly)
A Series of Unfortunate Events – Sunny (because her special talent is BITING, and I lurve her meaningful dialogue.)
